1. Prepare Your Documentation
- Keep handy your liquor licence, staff training certificates, and purchase/inventory records.
- Organize all records so they are neat and easy to find.
2. Ensure Staff Readiness
- Make sure staff know AGCO rules and ensure they can confidently answer inspectors’ questions.
- Verify that all required staff have completed AGCO Board-approved training (e.g. Smart Serve).
- Regularly review AGCO Information Bulletins and updates to stay current on requirements.
3. Cooperate Fully During Inspections
- Welcome the AGCO Inspector and allow them to show their badge and explain the purpose of their visit.
- Answer all questions truthfully and provide any requested records or documents.
- Allow inspectors to walk through any part of your premises at any reasonable time.
- Do not block, interfere with, or obstruct the inspection in any way.
- Ensure that neither staff nor patrons harass or act aggressively toward AGCO Inspectors.
- Allow inspectors to take photos, samples, or seize items if requested.
4. Maintain Compliance in Key Areas
- No underage drinking—staff must check ID.
- No intoxicated people allowed on the premises and staff are watching for signs of over-service.
- Alcohol is only sold and served during permitted hours.
- The number of people inside matches your capacity limit on your licence.
- Required staff are properly trained from an AGCO Board-approved program (e.g. Smart Serve).
- Ads and promotions follow AGCO rules.
- Display all required signs (e.g. “Sandy’s Law”).
- No illegal gambling or disorderly conduct.
- If applicable, specific conditions attached to your licence are followed.
