Apply to sell or serve alcohol at a public event

Find information here about what type of special occasion permit you need for your private event and how to apply.

Overview

Public events are open to the public. There are many types of public events that need a liquor permit (special occasion permit). These include public events, industry promotional events, bring-your-own events, and auctions.

My event is

  • for the general public (including a charity or fundraiser)
  • an industry promotional event that promotes an alcohol manufacturer’s product
  • a bring-your-own event, where attendees, 19 years and older, may bring their own liquor (BYOB) for consumption at a party in an area near a sporting event or a municipally designated cultural or community event
  • an auction, where I will make money from the sale of liquor at an auction
