A new reporting requirement is in now in effect for cannabis Retail Operator Licence (ROL) holders, that will help consumers more easily identify AGCO authorized cannabis retailers and make informed choices to buy from legal sources.
What’s changing
By July 8, 2025, ROL holders are required to:
- Provide the AGCO with their website address, if they have a website that is used for the purposes of the cannabis retail store; and
- Demonstrate compliance with the existing regulatory requirements to display the Ontario cannabis retail seal and Retail Store Authorization (RSA) in-store and on their website (if they have a website that is used for the purposes of the cannabis retail store).
After July 8, 2025, the website address of the retail stores that are provided will be included on the AGCO’s Authorized Retailer Store Map and on the Status of Current Cannabis Retail Store Applications page on the AGCO website.
The AGCO is introducing these measures in response to the proposed changes announced by the Government of Ontario in the Protect Ontario by Cutting Red Tape Act, 2025 and the broader Spring 2025 Red Tape Reduction Package to help consumers more easily identify authorized cannabis retailers.
What do I need to do?
By July 8, 2025, all ROL holders must complete a regulatory submission in the iAGCO online portal to:
- Indicate whether there is a website that is used for the purposes of the cannabis retail store and if so,
- Provide the AGCO with the website address (i.e., the URL)
- Demonstrate compliance with the existing regulatory requirements to display the Ontario cannabis retail seal and RSA information by including:
- Photos of your physical store demonstrating that the cannabis retail seal and RSA are displayed in accordance with the regulation
- If a website is used for the purposes of the cannabis retail store, screenshots or photos demonstrating that the cannabis retail seal and RSA information are displayed in accordance with the regulation.
NOTE: ROL holders are required to notify the AGCO within 15 business days of any changes to the website address that is used for the purposes of the cannabis retail store.
